| This makes a very effective picture. I particularly like the way the composition leads us diagonally up to the tower at the top. It might have been just a bit sharper, though. | ||||||||||||
"Thank you for taking the time to look at my pictures. I am from Darwin in the Northern Territory, Australia. I am a keen traveller and recently went to Europe and snapped these pictures. I am a fan of silhouettes and would like your opinion. The first one was taken in London, England just after sunset. My aim to include the plane flying overhead into the picture. (This was just after 9/11) The second photo was take in Venice, Italy on ferry. What do you think. Kind Regards." (Darren Olsson) |

| This is a fine dramatic picture, but I'm afraid the plane is too small to show up clearly enough. Indeed, you can't see it at all when the photo is reduced to this size. However, the photo survives perfectly happily without it. | ||||||||||||

| I like your photo on the left which is a bold and original composition. However, it looks even better when it is straightened out, as in my version on the right. Always keep a careful look out for sloping buildings. I agree with you that silhouettes like these work well. I think the dark speck in the sky is a bird, but, if you can't see what it is, it just might be better to remove it. But these are both interesting photos. Reply from Darren Olsson: "Thanks for taking the time to view my pics and giving me your opinion. Very much appreciated. I shall include some more later on. I am off again to Europe in 2 weeks. I'll take your advice, pack my Camera, Tri and lenses. The attached picture my wife took in Prague in the Czech Republic (I love it). The only thing that I wished would have worked is the blue in the sky. How would we go about getting this picture with the aqua sky? Regards" |

| This is a very pleasing photo of Prague on the left, but it's a pity that the buildings in the background are a bit less sharp than the bridge and trees in the foreground. But your wife has used the imaginatively arranged foreground to produce a really attractively composed picture. You can change the color of the sky afterwards using a photo editing program, as I have done on the right. Go on to YOUR PHOTOS (165) NEXT PAGE PICKING THE BEST VIEWPOINT |
