Comments: I have just been asked to take pictures of a wedding.I have taken pictures at my friends wedding and they were very impressed. But of course I am my worst critic. A friend of mine told his nephew about me and they asked if I would photograph their wedding day. I am honored to be asked. I do have some questions on how I should approach this couple whom I have never met with my pictures. I have been working on putting an album together that I had taken at three weddings so I can show them my work. My question is, is that how should I approach the price being that this is my first real wedding request? The others were friends and I gave them their pictures in a photo album as a wedding gift. Should I have certain forms for them to fill out and if so where should I look for these forms? I am going to be meeting with the couple on August 18th. If you could give me some advise I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, Corinne

Comments: I have been having trouble taking pictures with light in the background, makes the picture dark. You said to use 100 speed film. I talked with the camera store and they said my flash wasn't working or something was wrong with the lens. Since most of my other pictures turn out alright, I am going to try your suggestion. I am lost regarding films, shutter speed, depth of field but most importantly getting the thing in focus! Just got new glasses, a high eyepoint finder,a "J" focusing screen and a bunch of new lenses(60mm micro, 70-300, 300f2.8 and a 24-120 plus nikkor teleconverters though I am still short of a 1.4x for the under 300 lenses and a 2x for the 300.In any case I am hopeful that the changes will help. Comments: I am currently teaching a photojournalism class to 8th grade students. I am doing mostly photography this semester. The class is also putting the yearbook together, so photography is a big issue. My students have enjoyed your website and I think have learned a lot from it. I think I have done about everything possible with this site. We have limited resourses and I am trying to get my principal to spring for a license for Photo Shop but it is expensive and everything takes awhile to get done in this system. I am struggling to keep my students busy. If you have any suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated. Today, the students are writing a short report on one of the content areas on the site. Comments: I have only gone through the user submitted photos pages of the site, but even without further exploration, can thoroughly recommend it. I would consider myself at an intermediate stage of knowledge and proficiency....and going through the submitted photos..the comments and improvements of each has served to reinforce certain developed (self learning!) techniques and provided a lot of knowledge on how to improve even further. It is really useful to be encouraged to look at a photo and then to consider ways to improve it. This must surely lead to better composed and framed photographs in the first place, with less need for post production alterations/improvements or deletions! (Mind you, I LOVE doing this (alterations/improvements that is!) in PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS!) Particulary if you are an "isolationist" photographer such as myself, then this site is a must....a massive bonus is the photo submission...to have a professional give critique on up to 4 emailed jpegs is really great. To do this free from any financial obligations is a one off and should be applauded. There must be additional scope for a commercial subscription service as well as an online course...publications etc. I now have to sort out up to 4 of my efforts for hopeful appraisal! Comments: This is a really good site for budding photographers seeking to improve their technique. The only thing standing between it and greatness is insufficient advice on equipment selection. Other than that, it is a very useful and well-maintained site. I realise that Mr Grossett can't rate equipment he hasn't used, so how about inviting site users to send in reviews of their own gear? Comments: On a recent trip back to Canada i was given a yashica camera by my mother. She is un able to locate the manual! I found it EXTREMELY useful as a beginner in photograpy, especially since I have found myself with an SLR camera with 4 different lenses and no idea how to use it or take pictures. Comments: I'm fascinated by seeing other peoples pictures and the "before & afters". Yesterday I sent you a couple of mine and already (within 12 hours) you were able to display them and add your comments. Impressive !! If you have time- in your sections on techniques can you one day add sections on special occasions ie weddings ( yes I know they are best left to the pro's ) for the "keen guest photographers", and anything about taking shots of Interiors.. ( room settings etc ). Over all I think your site is interesting and informative and obviously expands to maintain interest.. I'll keep coming back.! Comments: I liked the fact you juxtapose the bad and good picture. My husband and I recently got into photography. We bought the beginner SLR Nikon N65QD. And we have experimented with quite a few features. Some great shots, and some mistakes, lots. We're still experimenting. We recently got some polarizers and soft lens, but have been quite disappointed with some pictures. I guess we still need training, I don't think we're using it right, or that we're using 400 speed film (which we don't quite know how to use well). Still lots to learn. Any advise? -Sandra
